Martha L. Summerville, 92, of Taylor Road, passed away at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Four Seasons Health Care Center.
Martha was born on February 22, 1921, in Elnora, to Chester and Elkie Thompson. She married James M. Summerville February 1, 1946. He preceded her in death February 4, 2005.
During World War II, she worked at Crane Naval Weapons Center. She was a member of Washington (IN) Order of Eastern Star. She was a longtime homemaker in Beech Grove, Indiana, where she was also active in the PTA. She enjoyed gardening, making dolls, and spending time with friends and family. She and her husband moved to Columbus in 2003.
Survivors include her son, Gregg T. (Judy) Summerville of Columbus; grandchildren, Amy Summerville of Hamilton, Ohio, and Adam (Mallorie) Summerville of Cambridge, Mass.; her sister, Betty (Harlan) Clark of Frankfort, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, and three sisters.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery in Elnora, Indiana. A memorial service will be held in Columbus on March 1, 2014, at Four Seasons Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
