Frances C. Owens 84, of Columbus, passed away January 11, 2014, at Kindred Health Care in Columbus.
A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory in Rushville, with Rev. Jeremy Gries officiating. Friends are invited Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Rushville’s Calvary Cemetery.
Frances was born April 4, 1929, in Peppertown, IN, the daughter of the late Fred and Catherine (Wesling) Stirn. She graduated from Rushville High in 1947 and married Louis C. Owens November 25, 1948 (pictured together). He passed away December 19, 2004.
Frances was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Mindy (Dave) Houchins of Hope and Lisa (Troy) Barnes of Columbus; two sons, Tony (Michelle) Owens of Columbus and Steve (Candy) Owens of Connersville; grandchildren, Chad Houchins, Kimberlie Teltoe, Katy Barnes, Hanna Barnes, Hilary Owens, Claire Owens, Terry Owens, Shelby Owens, Drake Maddix, Delaney Maddix, Jason Graves and Nicole Martin; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Maddi and Kaileigh; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren. A sister-in-law, Bonnie Stirn of Big Rapids, MI, and many nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her husband, Lou, she was preceded in death by two children, Cathy and Terry; one grandchild, Jackson Houchins; and siblings, Dorothy, Delores, Leonard, Charles and Anna Mae.
Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of Bartholomew County or the Alzheimer's Association.
