Robert M. Howe, 85, of 900 E died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Miller's Merry Manor.
Robert drove a school bus for Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation for 37 years and farmed Still Meadows Farm since 1948.
He was a member FFA (Future Farmers of America) while attending high school. Robert was a member of Burnsville Christian Church where he had been a deacon, an elder, Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher.
Robert was born Dec. 2, 1928 in Bartholomew County, the son of Joseph S. and Hazel McDonald Howe. He married Martha Lou Howe June 20, 1948. She survives.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Revs. Marcus Speer and James David Huey officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Burnsville Christian Church, the ARC of Bartholomew County or the donor's choice of charity.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Lou Howe; a son, Kenny (Shannon) Howe of Columbus; a daughter, Kathy (Dwain "Shorty") Murphy of Elizabethtown; brothers, Gene (Pat) Howe of Elizabethtown, and Steve (Sue) Howe of Alabama; grandchildren, Brad Howe, Jamie (Amy) Howe, Eryn (Travis) Mitchell, Josh (Carissa) Murphy; and great-grandchildren, Brady and Wyatt Mitchell, Brayden and Jayden Howe, Jarred Baker,Maggie Wagner and Matthew Murphy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph S. and Hazel Howe McDonald Howe; and a brother, Joe Donald Howe.
