Michael Joseph Stickans, 54, of Commiskey, Indiana, passed away at 2:35 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Michael was born on February 18, 1959, in Pensacola, Florida, the son of Vivian L. Ziegler Toth and the late Michael J. Stickans. He married Diane Matthews June 22, 2001, in Vernon, Indiana. She survives.

Michael drove a gravel truck for O’Mara Construction for the past 13 years and previously worked for Dorel Juvenile Group in Columbus, Indiana, for 18 years. He was a 1978 graduate of Columbus North High School. His friends called him “Stick” and his grandchildren loving referred to him as “Opa.” He was an avid Indianapolis Colts and NASCAR fan, especially Tony Stewart. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Stickans of Commiskey, Indiana; his mother, Vivian L. Toth of Inverness, Florida; a son, Bryan Stickans of Commiskey, Indiana; three daughters, Rachel (Billy) Burke of Yantis, Texas, Sherry (Mike) Banks of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Brandy (Simeon) Stearns of North Vernon, Indiana; a brother, Dana (Carolyn) Stickans of Columbus, Indiana; a sister, Jane (Thomas) Millsaps of Titusville, Florida; six grandchildren, Tristen Burke and Adam Joseph Burke, both of Yantis, Texas, Ellie Banks of North Vernon, Indiana, Isaac Stearns, Marley Stearns and Halle Stearns, all of North Vernon, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, and his dog, Bud.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2014, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon, Indiana, with calling from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana.
