Eric Joshua "Josh" Swift, 39, of Edinburgh, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at his residence.

He was born October 27, 1974, in Muncie, the son of Russell and Fay (Butcher) Swift. He married Rachel Ingle on June 10, 1995, and she survives.

Other survivors include his parents, of Shelbyville; a son, Ethan Swift of Edinburgh; a daughter, Piper Swift of Edinburgh; brothers, Jason Swift and wife, Shelley, of Indianapolis, and Doug Swift and wife, Jenn, of Shelbyville; maternal grandfather, R.D. Butcher of Shelbyville; paternal grandfather, Francis Swift of Edinburgh; mother-in-law, Jo Lister of Edinburgh; father-in-law, Sam Ingle and wife, Debbie, of Greenwood; and several nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Fay (Phifer) Butcher; and paternal grandmother, Carol (Moore) Swift.

Josh was a lifelong resident of Shelby County. He graduated from Southwestern High School in 1993 and was a member of Mount Auburn Christian Church and American Legion Post No. 233.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he worked as a production supervisor at Sacoma in Edinburgh. He loved spending time with his family and coaching his children in many athletic events.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Mount Auburn Christian Church, 5878 West County Road 900S, Edinburgh.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the church, with Pastor Brian Scott officiating.

Interment will be at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Shelby County.
