Mr. Arnold Lee “Gas” Gastineau, 70, of Freetown, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014.
Born October 19, 1943, in Marion County, IN, he was the son of James Artist and Mae Edna (Smith) Gastineau.
Arnold was a graduate of Freetown High School and later served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Cummins after 43 years of service.
He was a member of American Legion Post No. 89 and the Moose Lodge of Columbus. He loved the great outdoors, enjoyed cutting wood with his canine buddies “Hobo” and “Spike,” was an avid gardener and also enjoyed auctions and family gatherings.
He is survived by his devoted partner of 28 years, Lena Smith; children, Randy F. Pedigo, Tanye (Chris McKillip) Pedigo Langley, Regina Compton, Lee Gastineau, and Mara Ann Gastineau; grandchildren, Don (Kim) Pedigo, John (Casey) Pedigo, Mandan Langley, Brysen Riley, Spencer Gastineau, Login Compton, David Compton, and Cley McKillip; two great-grandchildren, Polly Pedigo and Suzie Pedigo; and siblings, Clifford Gastineau, Wayman (Ruby) Gastineau, Loyd Gastineau, and Carol Dixon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mildred Wringler.
A celebration of life service will be held at Voss Chapel on Friday, February 28, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., with Randy F. Pedigo officiating.
Burial will take place at Jackson Cemetery.
Family and friends may visit at Voss Chapel on Friday, February 28, 2014, from noon until the time of service.
