Amelia "Mickie" Jane Yates, 90, of Ohio Street, died at 10:35 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2014 at Willow Crossing Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Spencer on February 20, 1924, the daughter of the late Leo Milton and Lucy Smith Kelley. She married Albert Allen Yates on August 15, 1944, and he preceded her in death on October 4, 1993.
Mickie was a member of Chapel of the Good Shepherd Church in Flat Rock and Mill Race Center. She participated in several activities at Eastside Community Center and was involved with the Grandparents Mentoring Program at Children, Inc. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, making quilts, babysitting and helping families.
Mickie is survived by her sons, Boyd Yates of Edinburgh and Stanley (Alice) Yates of Columbus; a daughter, Connie Frazier of Columbus; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a brother, Leo Kelley Jr.; and sisters, Julia Yates and Augusta Snyder.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Tennyson officiating. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
