Leona Davis Brewer, 99, of Columbus, Indiana, formerly of Zellwood, Florida, died at 11:47 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus. She resided in Westport until 1984.
A homemaker, she was of the Catholic Faith and had attended Immaculate Conception School in Millhousen.
Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Millhousen, with Father Bill Turner officiating. Calling will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with a public prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery at Millhousen.
Memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception Cemetery Fund or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Mrs. Brewer was born in Decatur County October 30, 1914, the daughter of Bernard and Josephine (Funke) Ortman. She married F. Richard Davis of Westport June 5, 1940. He died December 18, 1963. She married Earl A. Brewer of Greensburg on June 23, 1984. He died September 1, 2005.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathleen (Nathan) Garrett of Columbus; one stepson, David (Jill) Brewer of Florida; one stepdaughter, Janett Lamontagne (Gary Thompson) of Florida; a sister, Ruth Beesley of Columbus; two granddaughters, Lisa (Doug) Caseltine of Columbus and Teresa (Dennis) Gholson of Columbus; three great-granddaughters, Ashley (Braden) Grider of Columbus, Amber Monday of Indianapolis, and Brooke O’Mara of Columbus; two stepgrandchildren, Patrick Witkemper and Heather Munsey, and three stepgreat-grandchildren of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Elaine Herron of North Vernon, on December 10, 2013; three brothers, Carl Ortman, Frank Ortman and Ralph Ortman
