Lerrie Z. Shewmake, 81, of Hope, died at 12:20 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the home of his son in Columbus.
Mr. Shewmake retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1987 after 31 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Christian church in Edinburgh.He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean era.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and playing the guitar.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Christian Church, 7648 S. State Road 252, Edinburgh, with the Rev. Bill Weaver officiating. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery.

Born Aug. 13, 1932 in Byrdstown, Tenn, he was the son of Oakla and Eliza Jane Ledford Shewmake.
Survivors include a son, Chris (Tonya) Shewmake of Columbus; grandchildren, Olivia, Elaina, Caleb and Sarah Shewmake and his longtime companion, Deloris Collier.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Willard Shewmake; and sisters, Beulah Payne, Melba Smith, Josie Smith and Louise Vannatta.
Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh was in charge of arrangements.
