Lucille M. Hyer, 96, of Columbus, passed from this life at 11:32 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mrs. Hyer received her Registered Nurse Degree from St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was a former Bartholomew County Health Nurse and retired as Nursing Supervisor at Four Seasons Retirement Center. She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Father Doug Marcotte officiating. Family and friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Born in Bloomington December 26, 1917, Mrs. Hyer was the daughter of Frank and Leta Hastings Hitchcox. She married John E. Hyer November 8, 1941. He preceded her in death April 26, 1998.
Survivors include her children, John E. (Jean A.) Hyer Jr. of Aiken, SC, Richard A. Hyer of Columbus, Thomas M. (Mary Liz) Hyer of Augusta, GA, and Judith H. Ahrens of Marietta, GA; a brother, Lawrence Hitchcox of Biloxi, MS; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hyer was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers and three sisters.
