Dora Lou Mayfield, 90, of Woodlane Drive, died at 2:47 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation.

Dora was a member of East Columbus United Methodist Church. She had owned Mayfield Rental and volunteered at Love Chapel.

She enjoyed working in her garden. Dora was a caring, compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother who loved spending time with her family.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at East Columbus United Methodist Church with Pastor Charles Aigner officiating. Calling will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Dora was born Dec. 8, 1923 in Hawesville, Ky, the daughter of James Barbour and Jessye Scifres White. She married Collis L. Mayfield May 2, 1942.

Survivors include her husband, Collis Mayfield; a son, Collis G. (Becky) Mayfield of Columbus; daughters, Jill (Bill) Spence of Houston, Texas, LuAnn (Dave) McDuell of Diamond Bar, Calif., and Debbie (Mark) Kalstrup of High Point, NC; a sister, Peggy Daugherty of Southport; grandchildren, Scott Neal, Chris (Kris) Neal, Tracey (Doug) Warren, Derek (Amy) Mayfield, Cory Spence, Kaley (Alan) Crane, Leslie Sinnock, Ryan (Jamie) Mayfield, Carly Sanneman, Nicole Sanneman, Jera (Brandon) Fusi, Eric (Susan) Kalstrup and Brian Kalstrup; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Barbour and Jessye Scifres White; a son, David Mayfield; a daughter, Pat Neal; a brother, James Barbour White Jr.; and a sister, Norma Brown.
