Madelyn Carol Peters, 63, of Columbus, IN, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at 1:25 p.m. at IU Medical Center in Indianapolis.

Carol was born on November 13, 1950, in Seymour, IN, the daughter of Herman and Mildred McKain Wayman. She married Gerald Peters in Columbus, IN, on January 20 1973.

She started working at Lear-Siegler, followed by Ray's Cleaner and most recently worked at Burd’s Cleaners in Columbus. Carol was a very creative person who enjoyed scrapbooking and painting. She also enjoyed the outdoors, including horseback riding with her daughter, gardening, and doing farm chores alongside Gerald and their son before becoming ill.

She is survived by Gerald, her husband of 41 years; children, Kevin Peters of Columbus and Gail (Darrin) Lawyer of Seymour; a grandson, Dalton Lawyer; three sisters, Sandra (Dave) Jordan, Georgia (Steve) Baker and Jeanie (Mark) O’Mara; and three brothers, Charles (Phyllis) McKain, Don Wayman and Ron (Jan) Wayman.

Her parents preceded her in death.

The Rev. Mark Wooten will conduct a funeral service on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at Burkholder Funeral Chapel in Seymour. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday, March 26, 2014, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., and from noon until time of service on Thursday. Burial will follow the service on Thursday at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour.
