Clarence Wilbur Trimpe, 86, of Seymour, IN, passed away at 7:25 a.m.  March 25, 2014, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour. Clarence was born in Jackson County, the youngest son of Fredrich William and Mary Sarah (Schafstall) Trimpe. He lived his entire life in the house where he was born.

Clarence never retired and enjoyed farming all of his life. He enjoyed growing sweet corn and making peanut brittle to give away to family, friends and neighbors. He started a welding business, C. Trimpe Original Hard Surface Bars Inc. in 1967, and it is still operated by his two sons, Ralph and Donald. He helped start the first volunteer fire department for Jackson County in the 1960s.

He was an active, lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and attended Immanuel Lutheran School.

On December 11, 1948, he married Mary Margaret Rentschler, who survives. Other survivors include his six children, Beverly (Tom) Rust of Columbus, Dorothy (Dan) Schepman of Crothersville, Ralph (Susan) Trimpe of Seymour, Roger (Susie) Trimpe of North Vernon, Donald (Tami) Trimpe of North Vernon, and Robert (Kim) Trimpe of Noblesville. Clarence also had nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

His parents and his eight siblings, Omer, Amanda, Viola “Sally,” Evelyn, Virgil, Leonard “Dick,” Carl “Bill,” and Lawrence “Tom,” preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour with Revs. Blomenberg, Bloch and Rodriguez and Vicar Huff officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery, Seymour. Visitation will be at Burkholder Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 28, 2014, from 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Immanuel School, Zion Lutheran School and Trinity Lutheran High School.
