Verna E. Fiesbeck Strietelmeier, 87, of Columbus, died at 3 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at home.
Verna formerly worked for Murphy’s Five & Dime and also had been a secretary at Cummins Engine Company. She was a wonderful and living wife and mother and a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and Columbus Grange.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street, with Pastor Patrick Galligar officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or Southern Care Hospice.

Born in Bartholomew County Jan. 4, 1927, Verna was the daughter of Clifford Henry and Lula Scheidt Fiesbeck. She married Marvin R. Strietelmeier Dec. 30, 1950, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death Aug.15, 2010.
Survivors include a son, Michael R. Strietelmeier of Columbus; brothers, Merton (June) Fiesbeck and Earl Fiesbeck, both of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Ralph Fiesbeck.
