Ruby L. Ponsler, 100, of Butlerville, Indiana, passed away at 8:05 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Indiana.

She was born on August 3, 1913, in Zenas, Indiana, the daughter of the late Jess and Stella Price Burgess. She married Raymond Ponsler on April 7, 1934, in Zenas, Indiana. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1989.

Ruby worked as an Attendant for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville, Indiana, and had also worked as a cook for various restaurants including, Hornback’s in Butlerville and Greenleaf in North Vernon, Indiana. She was a 1931 graduate of Zenas High School. She was a former member of Butlerville Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty (Elmer) Naylor of Holton, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Deanna (Mark) Salyers, Debbie (Paul) Hughes and Carol (Paul) Jines, all of Holton, Indiana, Connie (Chris) Demaree of Cross Plains, Indiana, Danny Wilson of Marietta, Ohio, Todd Ponsler and Dana Ponsler, both of Butlerville, Indiana; 13 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Robert Ponsler; one brother, Russell Burgess; and two sisters, Helen Ponsler and Lura Jo Burgess.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014, at Dove- Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon, Indiana, with the Rev. John Blair officiating. Friends may call at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Thursday, April 10, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in the Butlerville Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Butlerville Cemetery.
