Alger James Beasley, 92, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.
He was born on December 9, 1921, in Pulaski County, Kentucky, to Carless and Susie (Parton) Beasley. He married Lona Elizabeth Dick in October 1941. She preceded him in passing on March 6, 2012.
Survivors include a son, Carroll (Betty) Beasley of Royce City, Texas; a daughter, Kathy Hillenburg of Columbus; sisters, Flossie Decker of Franklin and Hettie Dunning of Bowling Green, KY; a brother, Carlie Beasley of Cincinnati, OH; four grandchildren, Roxie (George) McDonald, Deana (Larry) Holley, Shelley McDowell and Kimberly Hillenburg-Sanford; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his wife, Lona; brothers, Henry Beasley, Vester Beasley and Lester Beasley; and sisters, Gurt Blanton, Versie Beasley and Flonnie Richardson.
Alger was employed in maintenance at Arvin Automotive in Franklin for more than 38 years. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Franklin and enjoyed tinkering with and rebuilding objects.
A service will be conducted on Monday, April 14, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin. Friends may call on Sunday, April 13, 2014, from 1 to 4 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
