Juanita H. Pitts, 90, of North Vernon, Indiana, passed away at 11:16 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Born February 27, 1924, in Hazard, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Pryse and Hettie (Warner) Horn. She married Paul Anderson Pitts on January 8, 1945, in Old Landing, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on July 28, 1970.
Mrs. Pitts was a homemaker and farmer for most of her life. She worked at the White Front Restaurant in North Vernon for four years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Rush Branch United Methodist Church in Jennings County, Indiana, and enjoyed quilting, embroidering, sewing, cooking, baking, crafts, flowers, and gardening.
Survivors include one son, Paul David Pitts of North Vernon, IN; two daughters, Rhonda (James) Vincent of San Jacinto, IN, and Wanda Carol (Bill) Bonner of Miamisburg, OH; one brother, Shelby (Kay) Horn of Campbellsburg, KY; six sisters, Mavis Johnson, Cleta Daws and Virginia Tipton, all of Dayton, OH, Eva (Charles) Moore of Richmond, KY, Agnes Caldwell of Michigan, and Emma Stauffer of Beaver Creek, OH; four grandchildren, Lori (Scott) Goerndt of Miamisburg, OH, Lenita Vincent of Columbus, IN, Cheryl (David) Wallace of Butlerville, IN, and Paula (Shawn) Moore of Commiskey, IN; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Audrey Smith; and two brothers, Vernon and Douglas Horn.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2014, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Rush Branch Methodist Church.
