Lourina Bower, 89, of Westport passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 6:42 a.m. at the Columbus Regional Hospital.
She was born February 14, 1925 in Gnaw Bone, the daughter of Ray Wallace and Eliza Jane (Richards) Crawhorn. She was raised in Brown and Jackson Counties.
She worked at Muscatatuck State Development Center for 11 years. She was a member of Sardinia Baptist Church and was in the Missionary Circle. She enjoyed reading, gardening and loved her grandchildren.
She married Alva William Bower in Scottsburg on February 7, 1948. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1968.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy L. (Lewis) Gant, Debbie Morris, Linda (Kenneth R.) Hays, Robbie Sawicki and Pam Maddux, all of Westport; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alva William Bower; son, Jack Bower; two brothers; eight sisters; grandsons, Kenny Hays and Joshua Maddux; and great-granddaughter, Kaydence Taylor.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Rust officiating, burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery south of Alert. A time of visitation will be held Friday April 18, 2014 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Bear Creek Cemetery or the Disabled American Veterans.
