Dorothy Alice Hill, 95, of Franklin, formerly of Edinburgh and Shelby County, died at 4:50 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin.
Mrs. Hill was a graduate of Columbus High School and Butler University. She was a teacher for 23 years in Shelby County schools and for seven years in Bartholomew County schools, retiring in 1979.
She was a former member of First Christian Church in Edinburgh and was a member of Indiana Retired Teachers Association and Shelby County Retired Teachers. She enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh with the Rev. Kirby Rupp officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Edinburgh Wright-Hageman Library, Edinburgh Food Pantry or the Indiana Masonic Home.
Born in Bartholomew County June 22, 1918, Mrs. Hill was the daughter of Frank B. Roupp and Delphia Mae Stillabower Roupp. She married William O. Hill Jan. 14, 1945. He preceded her in death March 6, 1994.
Survivors include a son, David L. Hill of Bloomington, Ill.; a daughter, Rosalyn (Ron) Pung of Commerce Township, Mich.; sisters-in-law, Margaret Roupp of Shelbyville and Betty Roupp of Edinburgh; a family friend, Janice Bonning of Bloomington, Ill.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Dorothea Gundrum; and brothers, George Ranson Roupp and Robert Roupp.
