Virgil W. Dolan, 89, a lifelong Rush County resident, passed away April 23, 2014, in Columbus.
He was born January 23, 1925, in Rush County, to Glen and Mabel (Suter) Dolan. He married Norma Lee Ruff February 25, 1945. She survives.
Virgil was a 1942 graduate of New Salem High School, was a Rush County farmer his entire life and was a lifetime member of Little Flatrock Christian Church. He was also a member of Rushville Elks Lodge No. 1307 and New Salem Lions Club. He lived in Rush County all his life but spent nearly 40 winters in Stuart, Florida, and enjoyed playing golf, boating and deep sea fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Lee Dolan of Rush County; daughters, Paula, and husband Ed, Constant of Columbus and Nan McGinnis of West Chester, OH; grandchildren, Anne, and husband Charlie, Koontz, Brent Clifford, and wife Tracey, Erin, Jay and Joshua McGinnis; and great-grandchildren, Carson and Blake Fields and Payton Koontz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Amanda Gatesy; a brother, Glen H. Dola; and sisters, Aline Winkler and June Griner.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Moster Mortuary in Rushville with Rev. Patrick Smith presiding. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary from noon until Friday. There will be an Elks memorial service at 2:45 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Little Flatrock Christian Church.
