Harvey Allen Sedam, 75, of North Vernon, Indiana, passed away at 11:09 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Jennings Health Care Center in North Vernon, Indiana.

Mr. Sedam was born September 30, 1938, in Seymour, Indiana, the son of Ernest Ray and Ruby Kinnear Sedam. He married Paulann Grace Criswell July 3, 2002, in North Vernon, Indiana. She survives.

Mr. Sedam retired in 2000 after 32 years with the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville, Indiana, where he worked as a security guard. He also prepared Ttxes for 21 years.

He was a 1956 graduate of Vernon High School and was a member of Rush Branch United Methodist Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher. He was a former member of Westport Masonic Lodge and Six Mile Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing solitaire, listening to country music, deer hunting, taking walks and doing yard work.

He is survived by his wife, Paulann Grace Criswell of North Vernon, Indiana; two sons, Pat (Diane) Sedam of Evans, Georgia, and Scott (Mariann) Sedam of Seymour, Indiana; two daughters, Cherie (Mike) Pike of North Vernon, Indiana, and Robin (James) Upchurch of Versailles, Indiana; two stepsons, Robert (Robin) Richardson of LaBelle, Florida, and Glenn (Connie) Richardson of North Vernon, Indiana; three brothers, Bernard (Virginia) Sedam and Robert (Phyllis) Sedam, both of North Vernon, Indiana, and Richard (Linda) Sedam of Madison, Indiana; two sisters, Marjorie (Jim) Moore of Bloomington, Indiana, and Beverly (Joe) Lee of North Vernon, Indiana; five grandchildren, Kody Sedam and Ryan (Ashley) Sedam, both of Evans, Georgia, Brittney Lunsford of Butlerville, Indiana, Clinton Lunsford of Jackson, Missouri and Taylor Upchurch of Versailles, Indiana; two stepgrandchildren, Eva (Cecil) Arnold of Hope, Indiana, and Nicole Richardson of North Vernon, Indiana;and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jeanie Strope.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon, Indiana. Friends may call at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Sunday, April 27, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be in the Dupont Cemetery in Dupont, Indiana.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County or the Alzheimer’s Association.
