John Francis Mullikin, 77, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:35 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Mr. Mullikin was born on January 6, 1937 in Madison, the son of the late William and Mary McFaden Mullikin. He married Naomi Buchanan on October 8, 1960 in North Vernon; she survives.

Mr. Mullikin retired in 2002 after 36 years from Cummins Engine Company in Columbus. He was a 1955 graduate of Dupont High School in Dupont. He had been a member of Dupont Masonic Lodge #419 in Dupont since 1976, and was Secretary of the Lodge. He enjoyed watching I.U. Basketball, target shooting, fishing, being outdoors and yard work.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi Mullikin of North Vernon; two sons, Darren Mullikin and Corey Mullikin both of North Vernon; one daughter, Felicia Giddings of North Vernon; three brothers, Kenneth (Pauline) Mullikin of Clarksville, Don (Frances) Mullikin of Bedford, Kentucky and William (Mary) Mullikin of Madison; six grandchildren, Zachary R. Mullikin and Amber Giddings both of North Vernon, Jordan D. Mullikin, Alexandrew L. Mullikin, John C. Mullikin and Austin M. Mullikin all of Vernon; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brent Mullikin; and a grandchild, Ashley Mullikin.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 4 until 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday. Masonic Services will be conducted by members of Dupont Masonic Lodge #419 at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana with military graveside rites.

Memorials may be made through funeral home to the Schneck Cancer Center in Seymour.
