Robert H. Christie Jr., 77, of Scottsburg, died Friday, April 25, 2014 in Scottsburg.
He was born in Louisville, Ky., July 17, 1936, the son of the late Harold and Hilda Lagenaur Christie. He married Darla Copeland on September 19, 1958, in Madison, and she survives.
Robert was an owner and pharmacist at Northside Drugs in Columbus for 30 years. He also worked at Option Care for 10 years. He was a graduate of Scottsburg High School, and was also a cheerleader; he graduated from Purdue University School of Pharmacy in 1958.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbus, SPEBSQSA, a Cardinal District Chairman for Barbershop Quartet organization, a Mason, a former Eagle Scout, and was a member of Kappa Psi Fraternity. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
In addition to his wife, Robert is also survived by a daughter, Pennie C. (Steve) Barger of Louisville, Ky.; a son, Dale Robert Christie of Columbus; grandchildren, Robert Lawson (Amanda) Barger, Madeline (Patrick) Gregg, and Copeland Dale Christie; one great-grandchild, Evelyn Christie Gregg; a sister-in-law, Donna Hart; nieces, Nancy Lyles and Robin Christie Snelling; and nephews, Mike Christie and Harold LaVant Hart.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John "Jack" Christie.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at Stewart & Hoagland Funeral Home 80 N. First St., Scottsburg, with Pastor Dave Galbraith officiating. Calling will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
