Marvin D. Wolfe, 75, of Seymour, passed from this life at 2:13 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Wolfe served in the Indiana Army National Guard for eight years. From 1968 to 2009, he owned Wolfe Electric in Columbus, retiring after 41 years of service due to health reasons. He was the electrician for Bartholomew County Fairgrounds for 16 years, had been electrical supervisor for "House in a Day," and was co-owner of Karen's Kountry Krafter (Christian gift shop) in Seymour for seven years.
He was a former foster parent and a former member of Home Builders Association and the Chamber of Commerce.
A 32nd degree Mason, he was Past Master of Alert Masonic Lodge in 1975 and currently was a member of Hope Masonic Lodge No. 150 F&AM. He was a member of Columbus Elks Lodge where he was a previous Elk of the Year.
He was a member of Community Christian Church in Seymour, where he served as elder and trustee, and he currently attended Mountain Baptist Church in Seymour. He was an American Cancer Society board member, was coordinator of transports and transported patients to Indianapolis for three years. He was a former 40-year member of the American Legion.
He participated in bowling leagues for 15 years and went to the state tournament two years. He also sponsored and coached girls softball teams for eight years.
Mr. Wolfe enjoyed traveling, cruises, and a missionary trip to the Dominican Republic. He was a great NASCAR and Tony Stewart fan.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Van Breeding officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday. A Masonic memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Full military rites will be presented by Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Mountain Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.

Born in Bartholomew County December 26, 1938, Mr. Wolfe was the son of Ora E. and Ruth E. Guinn Wolfe. He married Karen M. Farmer Weller July 28, 2001, in Pigeon Forge, TN.
Survivors include his wife; sisters, Carolyn Terry of Seymour, Sharon Stewart of Columbus, and Barbara (Bill) Bradtke of Columbus; a grandson, Richard Johnson of Cynthiana, KY; two great-granddaughters; a stepdaughter, Misty (Jaime) Gray of Vallonia; two step-granddaughters, Katelyn and Shelby Gray; his mother-in-law, Frances Cockerham of Seymour; and sisters-in-law, Wanda June (Jeff) Shutters of Seymour and Brenda (Tony) Beckett of Seymour.
Mr. Wolfe was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Greta Johnson; a brother, Robert Wolfe; a sister-in-law, Shirley Wolfe; a brother-in-law, John Terry; and a nephew, Rick Wolfe.
