Wanda Lou Gordon, 57, of Edinburgh, IN, died May 5, 2014 at Our Hospice in Columbus.
Survivors include her mother, Esther Devereaux Gordon; sisters, Sandra (Don) Welliver and LaVonne (Bob) Dodson; sister-in-law, Kim Gordon and several nieces, nephews, and great nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her father, Howard F. Gordon and brother, David L. Gordon.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 11 a.m. at Old Union United Church of Christ with Pastors Kirby Rupp and Lanny Lawler officiating. Calling will be held at Old Union UCC on Friday, May 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service Saturday. A grave side service will be held on Saturday, May 17 at the Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery in Wanatah, Indiana at 11 a.m.
Wanda was born in LaPorte and graduated from Morgan Township High School. She received an Associate Degree of Science from Ball State University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Indiana State University. She held positions at Architectural Glass & Metal Company, North Christian Church, M&M Manufactured Housing, Kroot Corporation, Columbus Container, Radiation Services, Southern Bells, and the Internal Revenue Service. She also worked several years in the food services industry.
She was a faithful member of Old Union UCC, serving as a choir member, newsletter editor and church treasurer. She enjoyed helping her friends at the church with fellowship meals and other activities. She loved creating counted cross stitch and embroidery projects to give to family and friends.
The family asks that memorials be given to the donor’s favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
