Leonard Everett Martin, 66 of S. Jonesville Road, died peacefully at 5:35 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014 in his home surrounded by his family.
Leonard was born June 30, 1947, in Danville, Ky., the son of George and Grace May Martin. He was a contract laborer for Force Construction through the Local Union #741. He was a member of the Columbus Moose Lodge, local Laborers Union #741, enjoyed NASCAR, repairing and restoring old lawnmowers, hunting, boating, fishing, being outside and spending time with family. Leonard was a tinkerer and “could just make things work!”
Among Leonard’s survivors are his wife, Mary Ann Mullins Martin of Columbus, whom he married in June of 2005 in Gatlinburg, Tenn.; a son, Wesley “Wes” (Kristy) Martin, of Columbus; a daughter, Rebecca (Steve) Martin-McKinney, of Hope; a sister, Marcia Martin, of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, Brilynn, Karver and Casen Martin, of Columbus, Beau, Squire and Ruby McKinney, of Hope.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Leonard’s celebration of life will be held at noon Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street. Calling will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Shelby Chapel Cemetery in Ripley County. Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
