Carl Elsworth Jones, 82, of Columbus, died at 7:09 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
A former employee of Cosco, Mr. Jones drove a garbage truck for the City of Columbus, retiring in 1998. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Inurnment will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Garland Brook Cemetery with Virgil Clotfelter officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the American Diabetes Association.
Arrangements were made by Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street.
Mr. Jones was born in Kentucky July 4, 1931, the son of Carl David and Helen Davis Jones. He married Martha May Baker Feb. 15, 1966, in Taylorsville. She preceded him in death January 13, 2013.
Survivors include a son, Terrie Jones of Columbus; daughters, Nancy Sue Green of Boone, NC, and Debbie Jones of Fort Myers, FL; a brother, Bobby Jones of Columbus; sisters, Mary Helen Smith and Phyllis, both of Columbus; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
