Harry James Schlehuser, 76, of Columbus, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014 at his home. Mr. Schlehuser was born November 29, 1937, in Bartholomew County, the son of Robert Albert and Erna Katherine (Taylor) Schlehuser. He graduated from Central High School in Columbus and then served in the Indiana National Guard until 1963. He was married to Karen Sue Foster, on August 26, 1960, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour. Harry was a life long farmer and worked for Loesch Heating and Air, Central Sheet Metal and Henshaw Roofing Co. retiring in 1999.
Mr. Schlehuser was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church-White Creek, where he served as an Elder, Usher and on the grounds committee. He was a member of Local #20 Sheet Metal Workers and past member of White Creek Conservation Club.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Karen Sue; two children, Lori Elizabeth (Jason) Hill and Bradley James (Julie) Schlehuser; seven grandchildren, Zachary James Smith, Elizabeth Marie Hill, Kade Joseph Hill, Madison Claire Schlehuser, Adam Robert Schlehuser, Taylor Lee Schlehuser and Carsyn Blair Schlehuser; a brother, Leon Robert (Joan) Schlehuser; and a sister, Roleen Sue (Marlin) Rothert.
His parents and a nephew, Alan Schlehuser, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at St. John’s Lutheran Church-White Creek where Rev. Joshua Cook will officiate. Visitation will be at church on Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time.
Burial will take place at the church cemetery following services with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the American Legion #89, V.F.W. #1925, D.A.V. #47 and Viet Nam #7 all of Seymour.
