Ralph J. Hodapp, 80, Greensburg, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014, at his residence. Born November 15, 1933, in Decatur County, Indiana, he was the son of Lawrence and Clara (Meyer) Hodapp.
Ralph graduated from Sandusky High School and then entered the Navy, serving on the USS Lake Champlain. After returning home, he worked for the next 45 years as a home builder, building over 50 custom homes in the area and working with Geis & Hodapp from 1962 to 1994.
He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he was an usher for many years, and was also a member of the Greensburg Country Club and the American Legion, a 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus, where he also served as a Columbian, and was a past president of the Southeastern Homebuilders Association.
Ralph enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening and watching Purdue basketball.
He was married to Bonnie Werner on January 15, 1966, and she survives.
He is also survived by one daughter, Susan Hodapp, Chicago; one son, David (Kathy) Hodapp, Columbus; one sister, Alvina (Kenneth) Kress, Greensburg; one brother-in-law, Ralph Hermesch, Greensburg; and two grandchildren, Brandon and Justin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marie Hermesch and Dolores Hodapp.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A public rosary for family and friends will be prayed at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg with the Rev. John Meyer officiating.
Interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church Building Fund or the Hansen Center in Batesville.
