Irma J. Fields, 72, of Westport, passed away at 9:20 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2014 at Kindred Hospital South in Greenwood.
She was born on May 10, 1942 in Shawneetown, Illinois, the daughter of Leonard and Charlotte (Brinkley) Dietz. She was raised in Evansville, graduated from Mater Dei High School in 1960 and has resided in Westport since 1966. She enjoyed sewing and sewed for others and did house cleaning for other people. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church where she had served on the Parish Council.
She married Harley R. Fields in Evansville on June 2, 1962 and he preceded her in death on March 6, 2009.
Survivors include daughters, Kathy (Pete) Holdreith and Brenda (Lloyd) Smith, both of Westport; sisters, Helen (Bob) Futrell of Evansville, Dorothy Gibson of Kuttawa, Kentucky and Karen (Steve) Kirchner of North Vernon; a brother, Ed (Kathy) Dietz of Evansville; grandchildren, Haley, Hilary, Hannah & Holly Holdreith, and Austin and Brandon Smith; and great-grandchildren, Maddox, Ava and Layton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sister, Linda Carroll; brothers, Bill, Johnny, Bobby, and Ralph Dietz and great-granddaughter, Sofia Nicole Holdreith.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Millhousen with Father Bill Turner officiating. Burial will follow at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 from 4 until 8 p.m. at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with a public prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the St. Denis Cemetery Fund or the Westport Volunteer Fire Department.
