Emma Mabel Behrman, 78, of County Road 100W, passed from this life at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the home of her son.

Mrs. Behrman was a 1953 graduate of Vernon High School and earned a nursing degree in 1961 from Indiana Central College. She was a registered nurse at Bartholomew County and Columbus Regional Hospital, retiring after 34 years of service. After retirement, she continued to serve the hospital as a faithful volunteer.

A member of White Creek United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, she participated in missionary work in Haiti and Honduras.

She will be remembered for her love of the outdoors, gardening, and growing blackberries.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Monday at White Creek United Methodist Church with Pastor Matt Snodgrass officiating.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike and from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Burial will be at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Born in Jennings County June 24, 1935, Mrs. Behrman was the daughter of Wayne and Carrie Phillips Lutz. She married Victor C. Behrman May 19, 1962. He preceded her in death December 10, 2010.

Survivors include her sons, Timothy L. (Angie) Behrman of Columbus and Roger L. (Rachel) Behrman of Greenville; stepchildren, Nita (Bob) Pollitt of Columbus and Ronald (Jo) Behrman of Dublin, Ohio; a granddaughter, Emma Behrman of Greenville; stepgrandchildren Isabelle Sully of Columbus, Benjamin Sully of Nineveh, Gabrielle Sully of Columbus, Chelsea Sully of New Whiteland, and Brittany Sully of Greenwood; a brother, Phillip (Malinda) Lutz of Gibson City, Illinois; a sister, Shirley Lutz of Anderson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Behrman was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
