Richard L. Tempest, 82 of Imperial Dr., died at 5:09 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 at Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin.
Mr. Tempest retired as a Broker from Pieper Farm Services.
A member of First Christian Church, he attended The Bible Church of Columbus and Men's Bible Study Fellowship. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he enjoyed playing horseshoes, playing pool, farming and gardening.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Jerry K. Day Sr. officiating.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to time of service Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Bible Church of Columbus or First Christian Church.

Mr. Tempest was born in Columbus on July 1, 1931, the son of Thomas R. and Edith Hager Tempest.
He married Carolyn Sebastian on July 28, 1956.
Survivors include his wife Carolyn Tempest; children, Cathryn (Kevin) Vogt of Columbus, Julie (Rob) Das of North Carolina, Beth (Blake) Fuller of Greenwood and Jennifer Lee Tempest of Columbus; a brother, Thomas P. (Barbara) Tempest of Florida; a sister, Betty (Phil) Aguilar of Greenfield; grandchildren, Heather (Brandon) Allen, Patrick Vogt, Jonathan Vogt, Hanah Fuller, Addie Fuller, Evan Fuller, Nicholas Das and Emma Das.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Jean Bain and Marjorie Haymaker.
