Helen E. Matchette, 84, of Kennesaw Court, passed from her earthly body into the presence of her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on June 26, 2014, at Columbus Regional Health.

Helen was born March 27, 1930, in Boone, Iowa. She was the child of Elmer and Winifred Lundberg who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by an infant brother, David.

Helen was a member of Community Church of Columbus and will be remembered for being a positive influence on those around her. She also attained her Licensed Practical Nursing degree in later years and was a dedicated nurse while living in Naples, Florida.

She and Richard "Dick" Matchette were married in Boone, Iowa, on June 15, 1947. Dick preceded her in death on March 22, 2011.

Helen is survived by four children, Julie (Mike) Wider of Bristol, Indiana, Rick (Sandra) Matchette of Elkhart, Indiana, Nancy (Randy) Johnson of Elkhart, Indiana, and Janice Matchette of Columbus, Indiana. She also had seven grandchildren, Mindy (Jamie) Higginson, Matthew Matchette, Lisa (Greg) Foy, Cindy (Jason) Miller, Amy Jo (Matt) Miller, Jennifer (Ryan) Batchelor, and Katie Beth Matchette. The joy of her life was her 21 great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Tyler, Brooks, Allie Jo and Devin Higginson, Nathan, Abby, Catelyn and Madison Foy, Jacob, Andrew and Joseph Miller, Grady, Ellison, Ridge, Hudson, Anders, Caylor, and Ireland Batchelor, and Jackson and Zoey Miller.

She is also survived by many cousins and friends from Columbus, Naples, and Elkhart.

It was Helen’s wish to leave her earthly remains to medical science.

A celebration of her life and love of Jesus will be held at Community Church of Columbus on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Church of Columbus building fund.
