Kent Bowman Eaton, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away July 7, 2014. He was born Dec. 21, 1945, in Plainville, Indiana, to Norman and Vonnell Eaton.
After attending elementary school and high school in Plainville, Kent attended airline school with Lake Central in Chicago before he was called to the Army, serving with distinction in Korea. He also attended Vincennes University.
Kent moved to Columbus, Indiana, where he worked for Quality Mill Supply Co. and was active in the Columbus Arts Guild. Soon after, he met his bride-to-be, Janie. They later moved to Southport, Indiana, where they raised two wonderful children. Kent also worked for Praxair Inc., formerly known as Acetylene Products, as a territory manager for over 35 years.
Kent's greatest passion was his family followed by his love for golf and many friendships.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Janie Eaton; two children, David Eaton and Carrie Elder;and the light of his life, grandson Ian Elder, who is proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force. Kent is also survived by his sister-in-law, Judy Eaton, and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim Eaton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Edinburgh Dollars for Scholars in memory of Kent, Jim and Chris Eaton.
Visitation will be at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh, Indiana, on Friday, July 11, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed immediately by the funeral service. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
