Mr. Henry Coleman McDaniel, 85, of Seymour, passed away Tuesday July 8, 2014, at his home.
Born October 11, 1928, in Knott County, Kentucky, he was the son of William “Billie” and Dora McDaniel. On September 1, 1979, he married Martha Eldridge at the Freetown Church of Christ.
Henry was a graduate of Clearspring High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy. He had been a toolmaker for Cummins Engine Co, retiring in 1990 after 36½ years. He enjoyed woodworking, farming and mowing grass. One of his many hobbies was genealogy.
He is survived by his wife; stepchildren, Jody (Michael) FitzGibbon and Peggy (Rex) Plessinger; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a niece, Evadean Davidson; one great-niece; and three great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Arnold and General McDaniel.
Funeral services will be heldat 3 p.m. Saturday at Voss Chapel in Seymour, with Rev. Larry Tedrow officiating. Burial will be at Houston Cemetery, Houston, Indiana, with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, and Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour. Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time.
Memorial contributions may be made to Houston Cemetery.
