Dorothy “Grandma Dot” Jackson, 97, passed away at 12:02 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014, at Keepsake Village.
She was born, August 20, 1916, in Indianapolis, where she was raised and later became a dental assistant. Upon retirement in 1979, she moved to Columbus, to be near her daughter and family.
Survivors include her daughter, Pat (Don) Schmidt; grandchildren, Kimberly Schmidt, and Donald A. (Linda) Schmidt; great-grandsons, Collin and Griffin Schmidt, and Brandon and Kip Corya; great-granddaughters, Adriana, Myla and Taylor Corya, and Felicity and Mahlia; a brother, Eugene Borneman of Logansport; several nieces and nephews; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Christian and Maude Grace Hinton Borneman; two brothers; a sister; her first husband, Charles "Rip" Sullivan; and her second husband, John L. Jackson.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday. Burial will be at Memorial Park in Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Keepsake Village of Columbus or the donor's choice of charities.
