Former Alexandria resident James Randall “Randy” Morphew, 50, passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Edinburgh, Indiana, on Thursday, July 17, 2014.

Randy was born on July 29, 1963, in Anderson, Indiana, to James “Buddy” and Donna (Hall) Morphew. He had lived in Edinburgh the past 10 years. A 1981 graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School, he had worked for Zipp Express in Indianapolis for eight years and Central Trucking Inc. in Taylorsville for 10 years.

Randy was a member of the Alexandria A-Men’s Club. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid fan of IU basketball, the Indianapolis Colts and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Randy loved his family dearly and cherished the time he spent with them.

He is survived by his mother, Donna Morphew Kiel of Alexandria; his fiancee, Dessica "Dustie" Sharp of Edinburgh; a daughter, Autumn Morphew of Kendallville; three sons, Bronson Morphew of Kendallville, Braden Morphew of Plaquemine, Louisiana, and Zachary Morphew of Alexandria; grandsons, Gavin Michael Pant and Camden Alexander Morphew; a granddaughter, Ava Marie Pant; two stepsons, Dustin Sharp and Tyler Money of Edinburgh; two sisters, Sarah (Kenny) Heifner and Brenda (Mark) May of Alexandria; a brother, Rodney (Tereasa) Morphew of Noblesville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; his stepfather, Ronald Kiel; a grandson, Braylon Morphew; his father-in-law, Don Michaels; a nephew, Christopher Jacob May; and a great-niece, Arianna Suzanne Morphew.

Services honoring Randy’s life will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at the Christian Congregation Church, 11015 North 300 East, Alexandria. Pastors Robert Morphew and Jerry Young will officiate. Interment will follow at Park View Cemetery at Alexandria. Friends may call at the church after 11 a.m. Tuesday prior to the services.

Arrangements were made by Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Christian Congregation Church.
