Donald Lee Gearhart, 82, of Jones Street, died at 2:50 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at his home.
Donald was born July 8, 1932, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Charles and Ethel Dill Gearhart. He was raised in the Garden City and Walesboro area, and later married Norma Jean Ward January 13, 1951.
Donald was previously employed at Moony Tannery and the Golden Foundry and in farming. He retired from Cosco after 45 years of employment.
Donald enjoyed NASCAR, Indy racing, and hunting.
Survivors include his daughter, Connie Frazee of Columbus; brother, Charles (Louise) Gearhart of Greenwood; brother-in-law, Harold (Joyce) Ward of Columbus; and a sister, Margaret Lane of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma; and a grandchild, Tracee Lynn Moore.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Pastor Shane Rocker officiating. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday. Burial will be at Ohio Chapel Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Riley Children's Hospital through the funeral home.
