Bill Caldwell, 86, of Columbus died Thursday, July 24, 2014, at his residence.
Bill was born in Bartholomew County, January 13, 1928, the son of George J. and Gladys M. Dooley Caldwell. He married Letty L. Lewellen December 12, 1948, in Sardinia and she survives.
He is survived by his wife, Letty L. Lewellen of Columbus; son, Thomas Dale Caldwell of Columbus; daughter, Barbara K. (Steve) Huffman of Columbus; grandchildren, Evan (Stacy) Huffman, Derek Huffman, Megan (Kevin) Bozell and John Huffman all of Columbus, Matthew (Jessica) Caldwell of Kokomo, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Nathan Huffman and Trenton Bozell all of Columbus; sisters, Alberta Stader of Columbus and Dorothy Johnson of Danville, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George J. and Gladys M. Dooley Caldwell; brother, Clarence Caldwell; and great-grandson, Reid Clayton Bozell.
Bill was a construction manager in the construction industry his entire career. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, American Baptist Men, ordained Deacon, and a member of Hope Masonic Lodge. Bill also served in the National Guard for 12 years.
Funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday at Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Cheri Grizzard officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Myers Reed Chapel on 25th Street and from 9 a.m. to service time Monday at the Church. Burial will be in Bear Creek Cemetery.
