Our beloved brother and uncle, Allen L. Mason, lost his courageous fight with cancer on August 6, 2014.
We wish to thank all those professionals at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center and Kindred Hospice Group for their kindness to him, as well as to family members.
Allen was born February 12, 1962, at Shelbyville Hospital, Shelbyville, Indiana. He spent most of his childhood in Shelby County and attended Shelbyville High School. He later spent time in Indianapolis and Columbus.
Allen enlisted in the U.S. Army and was sent to Grenada where he suffered a gunshot wound. He returned home shortly thereafter.
Allen enjoyed baseball, basketball, NASCAR, camping and fishing.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 11, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Wes Jones officiating. Calling will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time Monday. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County with military honors.

Survivors include his brother, Dan Mason; sisters, Carol (Tom McFelea) Luetke, Judy Carroll and Betty (Larry) Gold; nieces, Cristina (Jim) Hatt, Shelly Duncan-VanSweringen, Amy (David) Jones, Branda (Matt) Shutters, and Michele Conner, along with their children and grandchildren, as well as many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marie Mason; brothers, Edward Lynn, Terry and Dale Mason; as well as grandparents, Mack and Ethel Mason and Charles and Laura Waddell .
