Geneva M. Ward, 72, of Parkland Drive, passed away at 8:44 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2014 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Geneva was born in Columbus on February 2, 1942 to the late Ott Whittington and Margaret Jenkins. She married Don E. Ward on September 20, 2008 and was retired from Arvin Industries after 35 years.
Geneva was a member of Columbus Baptist Church, enjoyed auctions, boutiques, collecting, traveling, swimming, card games, and cheering Don on during his softball games.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Charles Kennedy officiating.
Family and friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Geneva is survived by her husband, Don E. Ward; children, Mike (Lynda) Phegley of Florida, Lesia (Craig) Galloway of Georgia, Connie Phegley of Anderson, and Kenny (Kym) Phegley of Miamisburg; stepchildren, Cindy (David) Gommel of Columbus, Laura Aldridge of Westport, and David Ward of Edinburgh; a sister, Barb Thompson of Dade City, Florida; brother, Bob Whittington of Whiteland; 9 grandchildren; 9 stepgrandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Geneva was preceded in death by her father, Ott Whittington; mother and stepfather Margaret and Carl Dobbs; sister, Bernice Hobson; and daughter-in-law, Diane Phegley.
