Frances E. (Perkins) Abner, 90, of Columbus, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014, in the Willow Crossing Nursing Home.
She was born December 27, 1923, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to the late John and Nettie (Thomas) Perkins.
Frances has lived in Columbus for most of her life. She married James A. Abner and he preceded her in death on July 25, 1992.
She was a member of the Garden City Church of Christ and the Golden Harvesters of the church. Frances worked at babysitting, selling Avon, Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation and retired in 1979 from Cummins Engine Company.
Frances leaves behind a daughter, Linda (Gary) Kremer of Indianapolis; three sons, Chilton (Donna) Abner of Seymour, Jerry (Jeannie) Abner of Columbus and James (Lisa) Abner of Columbus. Also surviving is a sister, Bessie Ruark of Gallatin, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a daughter, Elizabeth Giles.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday August 26, 2014, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service in Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Frances memory to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or to Willow Crossing Nursing Home for a staff appreciation luncheon.
