Fredrick L. Malan, 82, of Freetown, died at 10 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014, at his home.
Mr. Malan was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a self-employed carpenter.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and farming.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington St.
Family and friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday.
Full military rites will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard at the funeral home.
Cremation will take place following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice of charities.

Born in Bloomington April 16, 1932, Mr. Malan was the son of Orville James and Mary Criss Malan.
Survivors include his children, Vicky Wyatt of Nashville, Michael (Charrie) Malan of Columbus, and Jacqueline Malan of Nashville; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Barbara (Dale) Strahl of Columbus, Phyllis (Bob) McQueary of Columbus, Howard (Donna) Malan of Brown County, Fay Malan, Bob Malan of Whitesburg, Kentucky, Jack Malan of Columbus, and Karen (Tyrone) Streeval of Brown County; and many nieces; and nephews.
Mr. Malan was preceded in death by his parents, Orville James and Mary Criss Malan; a grandson, Reece Malan; and six siblings.
