Doris W. Swenson, 94, of Lafayette Avenue, died August 24, 2014, surrounded by her family, at her home.
Mrs. Swenson was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. During her 94 years of life she spent time bird watching, gardening, and engaged in her children’s activities such as Scouts as a Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader. She loved spending time with her family, was a devoted wife, and nurtured her love of reading with volunteer activities at local libraries.
Born in Swampscott, Massachusetts, April 29, 1920, Mrs. Swenson was the daughter of Wilbur and Myrtle (Thomas) Banks. Her parents both preceded her in death, as did her husband of 70 years, John Iver Swenson.
Mrs. Swenson is survived by a son, Eric Swenson of Columbus; a daughter, Karen (Edward) Hart of Steuben, Maine; and six grandchildren, Heather (Bill) McGuirk of Deerfield, Massachusetts, Michael Hart of Bristol, Connecticut, David Hart of Scottsdale, Arizona, Holly (Damon) Salo of Columbus, Indiana, Amy (Timothy) Cashman of Wells, Maine, and Jill (Cameron) Carter of Boyne Island, QSLD, Australia. She also leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren.
She was loved and cherished and will be forever missed.
There will be no services as requested by Mrs. Swenson.
