Robert "Bob" D. Owens, 80, of Columbus, died peacefully after a brief battle with cancer Monday, September 1, 2014. His loving wife, Juanita, of almost 50 years was by his side as always.
He was born May 19, 1934 in Edinburgh, the son of Roy M. Owens and Flossie Maybelle Clark Owens. He married Juanita Perkinson.
His pride and dedication was in raising his four boys, Ken Crouch, Tony Crouch, Steve Crouch, and Gary Owens.
His bear hugs and smiles will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Tina, Tosha (deceased), John, Dustin, Sarah, Heather, Emily, Andrew, Zach, Keegan, Haley, Austin, and Jessica. His great-grandchildren, Kirstyn, Lola, Sayla, Charlee, Jenson, Brooklyn, and Delilah. He is also survived by brothers, Maurice (Buster) and Jack Owens, and sisters Betty Marshall and June Kay.
Preceded by his parents; ; brothers, Harold Carrol and Dale Owens; and sisters Doris Payne and Maxine Tobias.
Bob retired from United Technology after 42 years of service. He was also a Korean War veteran and an avid fisherman and hunter.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 4th at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home with calling from noon to time of service. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
The family would also like to say thanks very much to all the staff of the Our Hospice Of South Central Indiana for their loving care and compassion.
