Billy V. Long, 77, of Brownstown, died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. Long owned and operated Long’s Pizza 24 years, owned Long’s Painting and also worked for Jackson County REMC. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Faith Baptist Church in Washington County and was an avid UK fan and supporter of Brownstown High School sports programs.
He loved to coon hunt and fish, volunteered at Hoosier Christian Village and enjoyed family get-togethers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Spurgeon Funeral Home in Brownstown. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from noon until service time Sunday. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hoosier Christian Village Auxiliary.
Born in Horse Cave, Ky., Dec. 14, 1933, Mr. Long was the son of Bill and Elizabeth Devore Long. He married, Elaine A. Lusk.
Survivors include two sons, Tony Long and Tim Long, both of Brownstown; a daughter, Connie (Danny) Morris of Columbus; a sister, June (Jimmie) Atwell of Center, Ky.; four grandchildren, Danielle (Griff) Quirk, Joshua Morris, Erica Long and Erin Long; two great-grandchildren, Hayleigh and Brooklyn; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, on June 16, 2010; and two brothers, Carroll Long and Oren Long.
