Carole B. Mathis, 68, of Seventh Street, died at 9:48 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at her home.

Carole worked in quality control at Dorel Juvenile Group, retiring in 2006 after 27 years of service.

She was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and the Carpenter’s Union, enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and playing computer games.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Keith Dover officiating.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Born in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, February 26, 1944, Mrs. Mathis was the daughter of Carlos Earl and Selma Knight Fields.

Survivors include her mother, Selma Fields of Columbus; children, Mark Mathis of Columbus, Melissa Tipton of Greensburg, Michael D. Mathis of Columbus and Matt Mathis of Columbus; grandchildren, Lindsey (Ben) Rust of Columbus, Jeffrey Voiles of Terre Haute, Jenny Mathis of Bloomington, Amanda Blondell of Columbus, Ryan Tipton of Greensburg and Marc Mathis of Columbus; a great-granddaughter, Lauren Rust; a sister, Melinda (Paul) Coomer of Columbus; brothers, Lonnie K. Fields of Franklin and Ronnie L. Fields of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

Carole was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Alfred T. Fields.
