Max Richard Moore, 82, of Columbus, died Monday, May 21, 2012, at 11:50 p.m. at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Max retired in 1991 from Columbus East High School where he served as Assistant Principal for 20 years. Before coming to Columbus he spent 21 years as a Teacher, Coach and Administrator.
He was a member of New Hope Christian Church and enjoyed music, sports, playing tennis and golf, fishing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at New Hope Christian Church with John Sichting officiating.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street and at the church from 9 a.m. until time of the service Friday.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Boston, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made to Multiple Sclerosis, Mission Resource International or Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Max was born in Wayne County, January 17, 1930, the son of Alvin M. and Marie V. Martin Moore. He married Joyce A. Byrket on September 8, 1950.
Survivors include his wife; children, Steven (Hope) Moore of Eaton, OH, Deborah Mussler of Fort Wayne, Jeffery Moore of New Paris, OH, Pamela (Randy) Collier of Brown County and Jennifer Bates of Fort Wayne; brothers, Jerry (Wanda) Moore of Muncie and Larry (Dorothy) Moore of Richmond; grandchildren, Nathan (Amy) Hake, Anthony (Jocelyn) Hake, Amanda (David) Smith, Amy Moore, Stephan (Kathy) Empson, Stacey (Ben) Hamm, Christi (Erik) Demarco, Jenifer (Matt) Thompson, Jamie Collier, John Bates, Chelsea (Jordan) Federspiel and Shelby Bates; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
