Alan Dale Parkerson, 56, of Union Street, died at 9:35 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Dale completed 12 years of school, finishing at Columbus East High School. He was a truck driver for over 20 years, enjoying many years on the road with his spouse as a husband and wife driving team.

He was a member of Calvary Community Fellowship Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed working on cars, building things and fishing. Dale loved being a father. He and Peggy planned for over ten years to start a family.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Community Fellowship Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Shane Rocker officiating. Calling will be from 9 a.m. until service time Friday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

A meal will be served at the church immediately after the committal service.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alan Parkerson Memorial Fund.

Born in Franklin Nov. 29, 1955, Mr. Parkerson was the son of Charles "JR" and Louise Cox Parkerson. He married Peggy Marie Wise April 27, 1983.

Survivors include his wife; children, Bradley Alan Parkerson, Angel Marie Parkerson and Ryan Dale Parkerson, all of Columbus, IN; a brother, David Lee (Becky) Parkerson, North Vernon, IN; and sisters, Ann (Bobby) Blanton, Phyllis Parkerson and Dorothea "Dottie" (Larry) Bledsoe, all of Columbus, IN, and Becky Jo (Rodney) Voegel, Seymour, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bruce Parkerson.
