Geneva Nezelene Day, 82, of Seymour, died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at her home.

Before retiring, Mrs. Day was employed in the Redding School cafeteria, at Jackson Park Convalescent Center and Lutheran Community Home. She was a member of Valley Home Baptist Church, volunteered at the Jackson County Clothing Center and made many beautiful quilts. She enjoyed gardening, canning, spending time with her family and all her grandchildren and watching basketball.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Valley Home Baptist Church, Brownstown, with Darryl Stidham, Arthur Amburgy and Arnold Bates officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Spurgeon Funeral Home in Brownstown and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Valley Home Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Valley Home Baptist Church or Hospice of Jackson County.

Born in Letcher County, Ky., Nov. 21, 1929, Mrs. Day was the daughter of Roy and Luanna Fields Maggard. She married Eugene Day April 18, 1946, in Letcher County, Ky.

Survivors include her husband; sons, Roger E. Day, Teddy L. Day and Robbin N. (Lori) Day, all of Seymour; a son-in-law, Ronnie Froedge of Columbus; 10 grandchildren, Tracy Day Vaughn, Rita Sujan, Daniel (Julie) Day, Cindy (Jeremy) Wright, Patti (Brian) Terrell, Tommy (Riley) Day, Loren Day, Monica Day, Todd (Alicia) Froedge and Tonya (Sam) Ruf; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Larry Day; a daughter, Jennifer Day Froedge; three sisters, Charlotte Fish, Doreen Cobb and Marie Sumpter; and two brothers, James Maggard and Roy Maggard Jr.
